Come & Sing Fauré’s Requiem, June 2018

The Prescot Festival Chorus will sing Gabriel Fauré’s celebrated Requiem this June, to commemorate 100 years since the end of World War One.

The performance takes place at 7pm on Saturday 16 June in Prescot Parish Church, as part of the 14th Annual Prescot Festival of Music & the Arts.

Sopranos, altos, tenors and basses from across the North West and beyond are invited to join the choir, to be conducted by James Luxton (Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral) and accompanied by organist Peter Kwater (St Bartholomew’s Rainhill).

The annual ‘Come & Sing’ event regularly attracts 100+ singers of all ages and abilities. The occasion gives participants the chance to learn from an expert choral conductor and experience the thrill of performing live with a large choir.

Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine (in French) and Prescot Festival director Robert A Howard’s Ave verum corpus complete the programme.

Singers are then welcome to join the audience for the second half of the concert, which features music from Haydock Male Voice Choir.

The cost is £5, which includes score hire.* As well as the evening performance on Saturday 16 June, there are rehearsals from 7pm to 9pm on Wednesday 13 June and 3pm to 5pm on the day.

*Please note: If you are bringing your own Requiem and/or Cantique de Jean Racine score, we are singing from the Novello editions, edited by Desmond Ratcliffe.
