Tim Hall Anniversary Concert Raises £400+

Parish Organist Tim Hall celebrated his 40th anniversary at the organ of St Mary’s, Prescot, on 27 September, raising £420 for parish funds.

Parish Musicians in Concert attracted 80 arts lovers for an evening of vocal and instrumental music by composers ranging from Vivaldi and Mendelssohn to Lionel Bart (Oliver!) and Elton John.

Tim was joined by Prescot Parish Church Choir, who sang Prescot Festival director Robert Howard’s 2019 hymn ‘Bread of the World.’ (Listen below.)

An array of ensemble items showcased other talents among the choir members, with Laura Howard on flute, Rob Howard and Stephen Mannings on piano, and songs from sopranos Elizabeth Lyon and Melissa Smith, and tenor David Kernick.

Vicar the Reverend John Taylor and verger Norine Jones presented Tim with a ‘jaffa cake cake’ to commemorate the important milestone in his musical career.

The recital also gave Rob Howard an opportunity to present Brian and June Jagger, from Prescot Methodist Church, with gifts, thanking them for 15 years’ service to Arts in Prescot. The couple have taken a step back from volunteering, having played a vital role in planning and stewarding since the Prescot Festival was founded in 2005.
