Birkenhead Operatic Society never disappoint their fans, so we probably don’t need to tell you the Prescot Festival audience was buzzing after last night’s opening concert.
Aside from the usual brilliant sound and array of unforgettable show tunes, BOST (pictured) had a surprise in store.
Remember Richard and Adam Johnson, the duo whose rendition of The Impossible Dream catapulted them to the final of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent? Both brothers got their start with BOST, and last night the audience were in for a real treat when Richard Johnson made an unexpected guest appearance.
His stirring performance of Till I Hear You Sing from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom sequel Love Never Dies had the crowd on their feet in appreciation.
But we’re only on day two of ten, and the musical excitement continues tonight at Prescot Parish Church (7.00pm) with Prescot Festival Chorus and Liverpool Harmonic Gospel Choir.
The concert opens with Gabriel Fauré’s gorgeous choral work Requiem, with Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral’s Philip Arkwright conducting. Later on in the evening, Tyndale Thomas MBE directs the gospel choir in such classics as Oh Happy Day, Amazing Grace and Bridge over Troubled Water.
Tickets are still available on the door, and the price is just £4. See you later!
