A huge thank-you to our first-night audience, who risked predictions of rain and thunderstorms for our opening Brass & BBQ yesterday. Everything except the cooking itself took place indoors, but still the elements did us a favour and gave us a dry evening.
Congratulations also to Parr Band on a sterling performance of a full programme of classical and popular tunes. Tapping toes were surely in full flow for such favourites as When the Saints Go Marching In (an old American gospel hymn, although understandably our St Helens friends were more enthused about its status as their famed rugby team’s anthem!).
And finally, thanks to our caterers, Paul and Sue Bonnett. We had our fill of burgers and hot dogs in the interval, leaving us all with a satisfied stomach on which to enjoy the concluding half of the band’s concert.
If you’re in Prescot today, pop in to the Methodist Centre for coffee between 9.30 and 11.30am; or we’ll see there tonight (Saturday, 16 June) at 7.30pm, when Liverpool Mozart Orchestra will be playing Wagner, Vanhal, Mendelssohn and Beethoven.
