Day 3: Daniel Bishop in Recital

Last night saw the biggest ever Prescot Festival Chorus. Since 2007, we’ve been gathering singers from across the region to join the choir every year, and yesterday a record 100 sopranos, altos, tenors and basses from all over the North West came together to sing Fauré’s Requiem.

Under the direction of Philip Arkwright (Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral), the choir and soloists gave an exhilarating and inspiring performance of the French composer’s choral work.

Liverpool_Harmonic Gospel ChoirIt was a change of pace for the second half, when Tyndale Thomas and the Liverpool Harmonic Gospel Choir had no problem getting the audience’s hands clapping, toes tapping and bodies swaying.

Their rendition of Simon and Garfunkel classic Bridge over Troubled Water received a particularly warm response from the crowd.

But we’re only on Day Three of the 2013 Prescot Festival, and there’s more to come. The music continues at 3.00pm this afternoon with Liverpool Cathedral’s Daniel Bishop on the organ of Prescot Parish Church.

The eclectic programme ranges from Bach to Star Wars, so it’s sure to be a musical experience to remember.

Cheese and wine follows the one-hour recital – and it’s all included in the £4 ticket price. Tickets are available on the door.
