Yesterday we welcomed Liverpool Cathedral’s Daniel Bishop to the Prescot Festival to give an organ recital.
In what one audience member amusingly described as a “very civilised” affair, the young Mr Bishop played for over an hour before chatting with attendees over cheese and wine.
It was a sterling programme of both sacred and secular music, ending with an astonishingly catchy encore of tunes that included Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Camptown Races and What Shall We Do with a Drunken Sailor — all suitably arranged to showcase the instrument and its talented player.
This evening, we continue an annual tradition at St Mary and St Paul’s School, with primary students from across Knowsley gathering for the Verse Speaking Competition. Participants will be reciting poetry and prose in what is always an entertaining event.
The competition starts at 6.30pm, and entry is free. Arrive early to ensure a good seat.
