Where have 10 days gone?
Saturday night’s audience left Brass & Buffet well-fed and well-entertained, after a concert by Prescot Festival newcomers Wirral Brass. The diverse programme featured tunes by Ron Goodwin, Arthur Sullivan (of Gilbert and Sullivan), Duke Ellington, Take That’s Robbie Williams, and Lennon and McCartney.
Today marks the conclusion of our ninth annual festival – but as usual, we’ll go out with style.
Join us at 6.00pm at Prescot Parish Church for Choral Evensong. It is a service of worship, so entry is free. The choir of the church will sing Charles Villiers Stanford’s C major setting of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis. Refreshments follow in the Parish Meeting Room.
Then, at 7.30pm (£4 on the door), we welcome Haydock Male Voice Choir for our Proms-style Festival Finale. He Ain’t Heavy (He’s My Brother) and selections from Les Miserables are a few of the treats on the programme, and it all ends with the traditional flag-waving to such patriotic favourites as Jerusalem, Rule Britannia! and Land of Hope and Glory.
