Prescot’s historic parish church of Mary the Blessed Virgin will open its doors for Heritage Open Days this autumn.
Dating mostly to 1610, but with some parts built as far back as the Anglo-Saxon era, the stunning church of St Mary’s is Knowsley’s only Grade I listed building. Learn more about its past and tour the beautiful interior on Friday 11, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September. Times will be announced shortly.
The Friends of the Festival meet at 8.15pm on Tuesday 15 September in the Parish Meeting Room. This is a chance to show your support for the festival and Arts in Prescot’s year-round programme, as well as hear news and share views.
And finally, we have an evening of Brass & Organ Classics at Prescot Parish Church on Friday 25 September. For just £5 you’ll hear Brassworks Quintet, solo trumpeter Peter Moss and Parish Organist Tim Hall in a programme that includes Bach, Charpentier and Vierne, among others. Wine and nibbles follow, and are included in the ticket price.
Look out soon for details of our winter programme, as there’s lots coming up in Prescot this Christmas, including the annual Mayor of Prescot’s Charity Christmas Concert – always a vibrant festive occasion featuring church and school choirs as well as an instrumental ensemble or orchestra.
