Parish Fundraiser Showcases Choir Talent

Members of Prescot Parish Choir joined their organist for a musical fundraiser last month.

September’s Parish Musicians in Concert, organised by the Prescot Festival, generated £365.05 towards St Mary’s church funds.

The annual concert originated as a recital opportunity for organist Tim Hall but has evolved over the years to incorporate performances by other guest musicians.

The trebles of the choir sang Peter Hurford’s hauntingly beautiful Litany to the Holy Spirit, while the audience enjoyed solo spots by soprano Elizabeth Lyon, tenor (and choir director) David Kernick, flautist Laura Howard (who sings alto in the choir) and composer-pianist Rob Howard (the choir’s associate director).

Tim Hall’s eclectic organ programme included pieces by Bach, Mozart and Liverpool Cathedral’s Noel Rawsthorne, among others.
