Thank you to the vast array of people – performers, volunteers and audience – who made 6 December’s Christmas Concert such a wonderful, festive occasion, helping us to raise £1,004 for the Mayor of Prescot’s Charity.
We were promised a quintet of musicians from Allerton Brass, but were delighted to go one better and receive not five but six players, making it a sublimely seasonal sextet. They entertained an enthusiastic audience with such Christmas classics as Winter Wonderland and Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.
Joining them were five excellent local choirs: Knowsley Ladies’ Choir, Prescot Parish Church Choir, St Mary & St Paul’s CE Primary School Choir and both the pupil and staff choirs of Evelyn Community Primary School.
In all, more than 400 people packed out the magnificent church of St Mary the Blessed Virgin, all of them singing along to traditional carols that included O Little Town of Bethlehem and Hark! the Herald Angels Sing.
All funds raised go to worthy community causes specially selected by the Mayor of Prescot, Cllr David Rigby.
