Welcome to Day 8 of the Prescot Festival. Today we are excited to bring you music from gifted young instrumentalists all over Merseyside.

The performances (scroll down to watch) were recorded for the Liverpool Cathedral Festival of Music, earlier this year. A big thank-you to Stephen Mannings, Director of Choral Outreach at the cathedral, who organised the festival and introduces the videos below.
Although the cathedral festival is a non-competitive showcase, there is a panel of experts to give constructive feedback on each performance – similar to our own Young Instrumentalists of Prescot. They are:
- Dr Robert Howard, our own director and also Assistant Head of Music Faculty at St Edward’s College
- James Luxton, our regular Prescot Festival Chorus (Come-&-Sing) conductor, and also Assistant Director of Music at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King
- Lee Ward, Director of Music at Liverpool Cathedral
- Tara Delve, early years music practitioner and founder of Music in Unison
You’ll also spot an appearance by the former Curate of Prescot, the Reverend Philip Anderson, who is now Canon Precentor of Liverpool Cathedral.
