Come & Sing Handel’s Messiah

Update (15 June 2022): If you are planning to sing with the Prescot Festival Chorus this year but haven’t signed up yet, don’t worry – you will be able to register on arrival at the rehearsal on Wednesday (7pm) or Saturday (3pm). Please arrive in plenty of time for a prompt start, however – the church will be open a good 45 minutes beforehand.

Update (3 June 2022): Thank-you to everyone who has signed up to sing so far. We’re unable to confirm or reply to every application, but rest assured that you are registered, and we’ll see you on Wednesday 15 and/or Saturday 18 June.

We’ve missed the annual Prescot Festival Come-and-Sing, and we’re incredibly excited to be able to bring it back this year for the first time since 2019. All sopranos, altos, tenors and basses are invited to join the Prescot Festival Chorus on Saturday 18 June 2022 to sing excerpts from Handel’s celebrated oratorio Messiah, under the baton of conductor Ian Wells, with Peter Kwater at the organ.

The details are as follows:

  • Venue: Prescot Parish Church, Church Street, Prescot, L34 3LA
  • Rehearsal: Wednesday 15 June 7pm-9pm
  • Rehearsal: Saturday 18 June 3pm-5pm
  • Performance: Saturday 18 June 7pm (first half Messiah, second half Liverpool Cathedral Community Choirs – you are welcome to stay to enjoy this free of charge)

We normally attract a massed choir of about 100, and despite the pandemic gap, we hope to be able to reach or exceed those numbers once again.

There will be a fee of £5 to cover the cost of score hire and administration. To sign up to sing, please download the registration form and follow the enclosed instructions about how and where to send your completed form and fee. Alternatively, contact us if you have any questions.
